Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Comment Protocol website at commentprotocol.com (the “Site”), our public APIs, and our open-source browser extension (together, the “Services”). By using the Services you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.

1. The Services

The Services let people read and post public comments about things on the internet—domains, pages, and other objects—and optionally anchor signed comments to public infrastructure such as IPFS and the Solana blockchain. Comments are public by design: anything you post may be read, copied, and indexed by anyone.

2. Accounts and eligibility

  • You must be at least 13 years old (or older where required by your jurisdiction) to use the Services.
  • Sign-in is provided through Privy. You are responsible for the wallets and accounts you connect and for activity that happens through them.

3. Your content

  • You own what you post. By posting, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, display, and distribute your content as part of operating the Services.
  • Permanence warning. If you choose to publish a comment to IPFS or anchor it on a public blockchain, that copy is outside our control and may be impossible to delete. Removing content from the Services removes it from our database and display surfaces, not from public infrastructure.
  • You are solely responsible for the content you post.

4. Acceptable use

Do not use the Services to post or do any of the following:

  • Content that is illegal, or that sexually exploits or endangers minors.
  • Harassment, threats, doxxing, or incitement of violence against any person.
  • Spam, scams, phishing, malware links, or deceptive impersonation.
  • Content that infringes copyright, trademark, or other rights (see the DMCA section below).
  • Automated abuse: vote manipulation, sybil accounts, scraping that bypasses published rate limits, or attempts to disrupt the Services.

5. Moderation and enforcement

We may hide, remove, or restrict content, and may suspend or ban accounts, when we believe these Terms have been violated or to protect users or the Services. Moderation actions are logged. Where the product supports it, you may appeal a moderation decision through the in-product appeal flow.

6. Reporting abuse

Report abusive content using the in-product report action on any comment, or email abuse@commentprotocol.com. Include a link to the content and a short description of the problem. We review abuse reports and act on validated reports.

7. Copyright complaints (DMCA)

If you believe content on the Services infringes your copyright, send a takedown notice to abuse@commentprotocol.com with:

  • Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to be infringed.
  • The URL or comment ID of the allegedly infringing material.
  • Your contact information (name, address, email).
  • A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  • A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act for them.
  • Your physical or electronic signature.

We will remove or disable access to material identified in valid notices from our database and display surfaces. Copies that a user has already published to IPFS or a public blockchain are outside our control. Counter-notices may be sent to the same address.

8. Wallets, tips, and on-chain features

  • We do not custody funds. Transactions you sign with your wallet (including tips and stakes) are executed by public blockchain networks and are irreversible.
  • Nothing in the Services is financial, investment, or legal advice.
  • You are responsible for taxes and for complying with the laws that apply to you.

9. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The Services are provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, or for loss of profits, data, or funds, arising from your use of the Services. Our total liability for any claim is limited to USD $100.

10. Termination

You may stop using the Services at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for violations of these Terms. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (content license, disclaimers, limitation of liability) survive.

11. Changes

We may update these Terms; the “Last updated” date above will change when we do. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms.

12. Contact

Abuse, DMCA, and legal: abuse@commentprotocol.com. General questions: open an issue on our public repositories. See also our Privacy Policy.

These Terms are provided for transparency and store-review purposes. They are not individualized legal advice; consult qualified counsel for your entity and jurisdictions.
